Privacy policy

Commons is church software made by The 110 Collective LLC, a Texas company (“we”, “us”). Churches use Commons to run their teams, groups, schedules, kids check-in and care. This policy explains what information Commons holds, why, and the choices you have.

Your church is in charge of your information

When you use Commons, you use it through your church. Your church decides what it collects and who on its staff can see it. We store and process that information on your church's behalf, only to run Commons for them. Each church's information is kept separate from every other church's. For most questions about your record, your church is the place to start.

What we collect

• Account details: your name and email, and your password (stored only as a secure hash). If you sign in with Microsoft, Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from them.
• Your profile and household: phone, birthday, address, photo, and the people in your household, as you or your church enter them.
• Church life: teams and groups you belong to, when you serve, events you register for, forms you send, prayer and care requests, posts, comments, chats and messages.
• Children's information: for kids check-in, a child's name, birthday, grade, allergies and medical notes, and who may pick them up, entered by a parent or church staff.
• Giving records: amounts and dates your church records. Card and bank numbers are never stored in Commons; giving happens on your church's giving provider.
• Technical information: sign-in cookies, notification settings for your devices, and basic server logs (such as time and page requested) used to keep Commons secure and working. Repeated sign-in attempts are limited using a one-way scrambled version of your internet address.

How it's used

• To run Commons for your church: show you your schedule and groups, send reminders and notifications, check kids in and out safely, and let staff care for people.
• To keep accounts secure and fix problems.
• To email you about your account, such as confirming your email address.

We don't sell your information, we don't show ads, and we don't use your information for any other church or business.

Who can see it

• At your church: staff and leaders see what their role allows. Restricted information (giving, care notes, children's medical notes, background checks) is limited to people your church gives that specific access. Other members see only what your church shares, such as names in a group.
• Services we use to run Commons: Supabase (database and sign-in, hosted in the United States), Vercel (hosting) and Resend (email). They process information only to provide their service to us.
• When the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.

Children

Commons accounts are for people 13 and older. Information about younger children is entered by their parents or by church staff for check-in and safety, and is visible only to the people the church allows. Parents can ask the church, or us, to see, correct or delete their child's information.

How long we keep it

We keep information as long as your church uses Commons, or until you or your church delete it. If a church stops using Commons, we delete its information within 60 days, after giving the church a copy. Backups expire on their own within about 30 days.

Your choices

• See and update your own information under Profile in the app.
• Turn notifications on or off for each device.
• Ask for a copy of your information, a correction, or for your account to be deleted, by contacting your church or emailing support@commonsforchurches.com. We answer within 30 days.

Security

Information is encrypted in transit, access is controlled by role and checked by the database itself, and we keep daily backups. No system is perfectly secure. If we learn your church's information was accessed without permission, we tell your church promptly.

Cookies

Commons uses cookies only to keep you signed in and remember which church you're using. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and let churches know before it takes effect.
